This post is for the purpose of a hand in so as not to photocopy any more paper off. That was the intention from the start for this blog but I kept trying to do the books also, for more of my off hand thinking process.
This is a picture by my son.
I love childrens mark making, choice of colour and the imagination they use in the drawings they make. It has such an intuitive nature and is completely honest. I often feel art lacks honesty.
I gifted this to Ducky in Auckland for her birthday. It is a cigar box, silver and crystal. I made this piece after visiting Lisa Walker in her studio. She was worried I wasn't having enough fun and over thinking my work. I really enjoyed making this piece. I often struggle however, with finishing pieces off and the choices I make to do this. In the end I used the waxed thread and silver findings to connect the necklace so as it is able to sit on the chest bone.
I made this charm earlier in the year for my friend Kirsten. Her partner Greta, was worried about her travelling down from Auckland to Wellington and this charm was meant to keep Kirsten safe by focusing on her important things in life. There is a bird to show her freedom and drumsticks so she could look forward to the band reforming and of course the heart for the 2 of them reuniting safely. It is a brooch pin made from bus tickets and silver.
My discarded set in reference to Warwick Freemans dead set. A bit of a jewellery star BOW is the Dead Set. Some of my pieces were successful I think but....hmmm...mostly not! Mine includes items such as dead battery, found foam, broken peg, found old metal work, broken costume jewellery.
Based on a male fob chain I made this entirely from found objects...well except for the few silver jump rings.
Brooch for a painter in the top 100. I made this for my friend Chris Clements...but then he said it looked like tomato sauce on something so I sold it! Well I can always make him something else.
Birds in flight gifted brooch to my friend Erin. Copper. Sometimes you just wanna go, fuck it all, where would you go? I FLY
This post was created while listening to Seth Frightening....proudly! I bloody heart those guys, nice boys and bloody talented too! http://www.myspace.com/sethfrightening
