Things that sit next to each other....objects that talk
I hate my digital camera. I can never get a good shot. I have no idea how to use it and then when I go to try and improve it on the computer it becomes worse still. Anyway I think I need to take a step back and begin taking photographs again in a regular sense. Film. I stopped using film because of the cost. I understand light and the way it responds to slide film so I think I need to bite the bullet and head back there. I love the saturated quality you can achieve with colour on slide film. I also love the chance for something to happen that is unplanned. The accidents often tend to become the images I like the most. There is something in that. Perhaps I can bring the same quality to the objects I make.....
Apt poem for the day

Hone Tuwhare (1928-2008) was one of New Zealand's premier writers and poets
HONE TUWHARE'S: RAIN
Rain
I can hear you
making small holes
in the silence
rain
If I were deaf
the pores of my skin
would open to you
and shut
And I
should know you
by the lick of you
if I were blind
the something
special smell of you
when the sun cakes
the ground
the steady
drum-roll sound
you make
when the wind drops
But if I
should not hear
smell or feel or see
you
you would still
define me
disperse me
wash over me
rain
I can hear you
making small holes
in the silence
rain
If I were deaf
the pores of my skin
would open to you
and shut
And I
should know you
by the lick of you
if I were blind
the something
special smell of you
when the sun cakes
the ground
the steady
drum-roll sound
you make
when the wind drops
But if I
should not hear
smell or feel or see
you
you would still
define me
disperse me
wash over me
rain

Landscapes
Quick google search and this photo page popped up
http://www.outdoor-photos.com/
There are some great images in here. Quite mystical imagery. These are the types of things I want to look at for all sorts of ideas of the structure of Landscapes, the common shapes found and the colour schemes.
I have posted a few of the images from the above link here:

New Post as in from here on these should reflect New Thoughts!
Landscapes
I want to explore this idea of using found objects and going with first intuition of what they look like and how I can manipulate that. I don't know how long this will sustain my interest but I want to look at creating landscapes....something that looks like it may reflect a landscape...but is actually just a jumble juxtaposition of materials, marks and colour.
I want to look at different artists interpretation of landscape. This fits in fairly well with visual research I have been doing on painter, Matthew Couper. Often he is creating imagery set against landscapes. I like his rolling hills, deep greens and brown.....colours I can look at as I usually use very bright almost unnatural colour.
Also this post can let you know of a new show I have coming up, hopefully showcasing some of these ideas in works of contemporary jewellery. I will also have 1 photographic image on show and that is set against an almost abstract landscape, an accident of light leak against film.
I would like to do a big thanks! Shout out to Peoples Coffee and LaBocaLoca for coffee and food sponsorship on the night! Yay! This is a Wellington show and will be a lot of fun to attend, so please come along.

ALTMUSIC PRESENTS ...
C Spencer Yeh (USA) Born in Taiwan, C. Spencer Yeh is now based in Brooklyn NY. His chief modes of expression are amplified violin and voice. He is recognized for his musical project Burning Star Core and collaborates with artists such as Tony Conrad, Thurston Moore, Carlos Giffoni, John Wiese, Paul Flaherty, Chris Corsano, Smegma and Jandek. Yeh’s diverse sound practice encompasses blissed-out meditative droneworks, fire noise improvsations and Dadaist vocalisations.
"Yeh did not sing in a strict sense, but he vocalized with every part of his neck and head that could produce sound...it clearly was unsettling to much of the audience...."- George Grella - "The Big City"
It is actually pretty much near impossible to sort my thoughts
Flyer for a show I was invited on in November 2011. Group show.
Commission piece. Found historical pounamu adze, silver, NZ coin, costume jewellery, copper. Brooch. I wanted it to look like it had all been dug up from some forgotten site. It is pretty rough visually on the front. Maybe a bit too rough? Not sure. Have to decide the next time I see it.
Made for Yozinzy in the school gift exchange. This is a peg painted and set into blackened silver with silver detailing. Necklace.
This is a piece I sold at ROAR Gallery in the I say I say I say show. Copper, found rubber, paint, braiding and binding.
This is a ring I made for a friend. Silver, plastic and found silver setting.
Ring I made for a friend. Copper shapes on silver band. Paint.
Ring commissioned. Ruby setting in silver.
